What is Celebrex?
Celebrex, also know as celecoxid, is a pill that provides relief from arthritis pain and inflammation. Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs are also know as NSAID and work by reducing the hormones that cause inflammation and pain.
Celebrex medication is used to treat the following conditions:
- Acute pain
- Menstrual pain
- Polyps
- Musculoskeletal pain
- Juvenile rheumatoid arthritis
- and other pain
History of Celebrex
The company G.D Searle & Company discovered the medication. Philip Needleman oversaw the research that lead to the development of the prescription, according to the National Academy of Sciences. It was then approved by the FDA on December 31st, 1998.
In 2004, there was a rise in sales when the drug was co-promoted and developed by Pfizer and Monsanto when Rofecoxib was removed from the market. Pfizer continued to use advertising in magazines in 2006 and television in 2007.
Cost of Celebrex
Insurance may cover the cost of celebrex with a remaining copay. If you have low income and are uninsured, it will be a lot harder to pay for medication without any help from insurance.
Without insurance, Celebrex can cost around $200 a month. With insurance, the copay can cost around $4.
